ABOUT DR. LALEH OF THE NEOGENESIS HEALTH & INSTITUTE
Do you want to start a healthy lifestyle, but don't know where to start? You are not alone and I definitely understand you.
I have had pain for as long as I can remember that I thought it was normal and that everybody else did to.When I was little my parents were my health advocates and for the first decade of my life they just wanted to make sure that I was alive and my pain was relatively manageable. My personal desire to live a healthy lifestyle started when I was 17. Well, to be honest at the time I had given up on my body’s ability to be pain free, but I had developed a more aesthetic desire of being skinny, but I want to believe that it was a misdirected desire to feel good in the skin that I was in and I simply did not have the tools to understand a full array of other elements that went into feeling healthy and confident.
I felt overwhelmed with the lack of knowledge and fear of starting this journey which led me to the cycle of starving and binging. Shortly followed the feelings of shame, guilt and inadequacy. I was lucky to get out of that dark cycle in a relatively short time of less than a year. But to love my body unconditionally and to feel confident in it took another 5 years. I was a young girl with chronic pain, eating disorder and a mental fatigue and anxiety.
This is why, I say it is a journey of learning to treat your body well, head to toe. I dedicated my entire academic career to learning about holistic health. I studied Kinesiology and Health Studies at Queen’s University. In these years I made major lifestyle changes which included training for three half-marathons and incorporating a regular yoga practice. I went on to complete the four-year chiropractic program at Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto due to my personal experience with musculoskeletal pain which taught me the therapeutic value of chiropractic and lead me to choose this path as a profession. This is where I took my study of yoga to the next level, and completed a 200-hour Yoga Alliance certified teacher-training program at Yogaspace in Toronto. Once I graduated from CMCC, I moved to Northern B.C. to treat the community of Prince George, BC and I moved back to Toronto to open NeoGenesis Health and be close to my family in November, 2018. While I was building my practice, I also took a specialty program in sports performance nutrition and advanced medical nutrition to become an orthomolecular nutritionist. I have also completed certifications programs to become a specialty knee Trigenist, Webster certification for prenatal care and courses on trauma informed yoga therapy.
The beauty of the healthcare journey that I was on not only allowed me to treat and become a health advocate for my patients, but in the process I was able to heal my own chronic pain and eating habits through a combination of these techniques.
BEING A GUIDE FOR OTHERS JOURNEY INTO HEALTH AND CONFIDENCE
The biggest lesson I learned from my journey is accepting that every moment is part of the journey; all the obstacles, challenges, failures, closed doors, re-directions. I am speaking in hindsight, I know it is harder to do so at the moment, but respect your journey. Be kinder, gentler to your soul in these moments because life does not consist of a day or a phase to define yourself with your successes or failures. Love yourself despite the highs and the lows of your life as it is continuous and relapses are real. So be kind, but have your back when you fall, always carry action plans to get back up and to start over. Most importantly learn to listen to your body and become your own health advocate.
TO PROVIDE A HOLISTIC APPROACH TO HEALTH
My goal is to provide holistic approach to health, starting with motivation and self-love. Ease others journey to health by providing easy to follow action plans.
My passion is in coaching my patients and students about chiropractic, yoga, nutrition and rehabilitation. I teach Hatha and Vinyasa yoga to children and adults. I provide chiropractic care for patients with neck and low back pain with incorporation of yogic concept. I am also passionate about nutrition as an adjunctive care to cancer, Parkinson’s disorder, mental health, weight loss and improving lifestyle markers.
